Affinity Group

View and discuss works of contemporary art with our group of enthusiasts, collectors, and connoisseurs. Share insights and experiences by participating in exciting programming, which includes lectures, tours, and social events that explore the constantly changing art of our times.

Since 1961, members of the Contemporary Art Society of the Cleveland Museum of Art have generously supported the growth of the museum’s contemporary collection by helping to purchase 20 significant works of art. We invite you to join us in continuing to infuse our museum with the special energy and excitement created by contemporary art.

The organization’s principal objectives are to encourage, support, and stimulate the collection and study of contemporary art at the Cleveland Museum of Art and to foster the appreciation of contemporary art among its members and the museum’s audiences. 

Membership Benefits

  • Enhance your knowledge of contemporary art through lectures, visiting artists, and exclusive, members-only programs.
  • Enjoy special tours of private collections, artist studios, and contemporary art venues, including behind-the-scenes previews with curators at the CMA. The Contemporary Art Society has taken group trips to Seattle, Houston, Chicago, New York, Minneapolis, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
  • Enrich your contemporary art vocabulary and appreciation through interactions with artists, educators, curators, conservators, collectors, critics, and other enthusiasts.
  • Expand the museum’s contemporary art collection through purchases and gifts from our organization’s funds, raised through membership dues and fundraising efforts.

Membership in the Contemporary Art Society is open to all Cleveland Museum of Art members. If you are a CMA member at Associate level ($250) or above, you can join at least one affinity group as part of your membership benefits. To join this way, please contact memberprograms@clevelandart.org. All other CMA members can join through CAS membership dues, which are listed below.

*Junior memberships available for those under 40 years of age.
