Join us for a collaboration with DANCECleveland, as we celebrate a century of artistic expression with legendary dancer/choreographer Merce Cunningham and his influence on culture. This lecture-performance features a performance of Fielding Sixes by Malpaso Dance Company, the first Cuban company ever to be given a work by Merce, and a talk by Ken Tabachnick, Executive Director of the Merce Cunningham Trust. Free, tickets required
Presented by DANCECleveland and Cleveland Museum of Art.
Please be advised that Wade Oval Wednesdays, presented by University Circle Incorporated, is happening concurrently with this event. Automobile traffic in the University Circle area and access to the CMA parking garage may become congested.
We encourage you to arrive at the museum early and invite you to enjoy a visit to the galleries; see the special exhibition Medieval Monsters: Terrors, Aliens, Wonders; or the newly installed Ámà: The Gathering Place in the Ames Family Atrium; or take the featured tour in the ArtLens App “Merce Cunningham Collaborators” to see works by Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol currently on view. Also, docent Kathleen Hickman offers a tour “Collaborators” at 4:00 p.m. on Wed/Aug 7; meet at the information desk in the Ames Family Atrium.
