Did You Know?

Recalling her views out of airplane windows, O’Keeffe described seeing “such incredible colors that you actually begin to believe in your dreams.”

Description

Georgia O’Keeffe was electrified by the aerial views she experienced when flying long distances in the lower-altitude propeller planes of the 1950s and 1960s. In this painting, she has composed riverbeds seen far below in ways that refer to an actual experience and, simultaneously, exist as an abstract design.
