Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a Free Arts Festival, Jan. 16

WHAT:
The Cleveland Museum of Art holds its annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. The event will feature:

  • Opportunities for visitors to join in gallery discussions with curators, touch genuine works of art, create an historical collage, and try assembling a giant puzzle of a Picasso painting
  • Live musical entertainment by Rhodes High School Band and the Baldwin Wallace Jazz Group
  • Two screenings of Rejoice & Shout, a documentary film chronicling the history of gospel music
  • A teen poet open mic, with featured performances by local poets

Monday, Jan. 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

11:30 a.m. Gallery talk by Constantine Petridis, curator of African art
12:30 p.m. Gallery talk by Paola Morsiani, curator of contemporary art
1:00 p.m. Teen poet open mic and Art Cart: Artists of Our Region
